Education

I attended the University of Nevada, Reno where I obtained a B.S. degree in Biology. Many years later when I became a mom I have continued my educational journey in the field of teaching. My desire to teach came from my struggle as a parent to understand why my very bright children struggled to read, write and do math. No one in the schools could tell me. I've since been on a journey to educate dyslexic students, their parents, educators, and the community.

Orton-Gillingham trained dyslexia tutor - OG is a multisensory, explicit, direct, systematic reading intervention known for decades to help struggling readers, dyslexic and nondyslexic alike. I have been tutoring for 5 years. I am trained in Rave-O. I am trained in Making Math Real, a truly revolutionary teaching approach that supports the necessary brain development for all students to be successful in math. I am also trained in Structured Word Inquiry. I am an educational advocate for students with disabilities

Hobbies

I am a passionate advocate for students with dyslexia. I tutor reading and math for struggling students. My passion for teaching and advocacy came from my need to help my own children. There is a severe paucity of resources in Reno, Nevada to help students with dyslexia. I completely understand the struggling learner from a parent's point of view as well as a teaching point of view and can offer a lot of guidance on how to obtain the proper services for your child.
